It is predominantly a residential area with significant industrial and business parks, including the Knowsley Industrial Park. The borough includes the towns of Kirkby, Huyton, Prescot, and Halewood. It has a population of approximately 154,000. Knowsley is historically linked to the Earls of Derby, with Knowsley Hall and its safari park being a major attraction.
